Getting Started with Ditto

Getting started takes about 2 minutes. Here's everything you need to know.

Step 1: Get a Nostr signer

Before using Ditto, you need a way to manage your Nostr keys. The recommended approach is to use a browser extension signer -- it holds your private key securely and signs events on your behalf.

Popular options:

• Alby -- Browser extension with built-in Lightning wallet
• nos2x -- Lightweight Chrome extension
• Nostore -- Safari extension for macOS/iOS

Install one, create a new key (or import an existing one), and you're ready.

Step 2: Open Ditto

Head to ditto.pub and click Join or Login.

Your signer extension will ask you to approve the connection. Once you do, you're in.

Step 3: Set up your profile

Click your avatar in the sidebar to edit your profile:

• Display name -- What people see
• Bio -- Tell the world about yourself
• Avatar & banner -- Make it pretty
• Lightning address -- So people can zap you

Step 4: Find your people

Nostr is a global network. Here are some ways to discover people:

• Browse the Global feed to see what everyone's posting
• Check the Community feed for curated content
• Use Search to find people by name or NIP-05 address
• Look for Follow Packs -- curated lists of accounts to follow

Step 5: Make it yours

Head to Settings > Appearance to customize your experience:

• Pick a theme (or build a custom one)
• Toggle which content types show in your feed
• Configure your relays for maximum reach
• Set up your Lightning wallet for zapping
